1. How many letterboxes do I need to install?

You can install as many as you like, but Tuffies expects you to purchase a minimum of four Tuffies letterboxes per month, averaged over 10 months, to keep your licence. This means you can work part time when it suits you, but if you are not installing the minimum number then Tuffies would like to make the post code available to other keen Installers.

2. Can I promote myself as an install of letterboxes, and not just Tuffies letterboxes?

Certainly. You can installer whichever letterboxes and posts you like. However, Tuffies will only supply you with Tuffies products at wholesale rates – even one letterbox.

3. Can I promote letterboxes with my own marketing material?

We do ask that you use the Tuffies marketing material and Fair Trading Guidelines supplied when seeking and engaging new customers for Tuffies products. You are not permitted to use the Tuffies product name in marketing information not provided or endorsed by Tuffies.

4. How many postcodes can I be registered for?

As many as you like. Each postcode is priced according to the number of residential postboxes, using data supplied by Australia Post. In some instances where the postcode has a large number of postboxes, the code may be split into two or more registrations. We guarantee a minimum of 10,000 postboxes for each registration.

5. How much money can I make?

Tuffies provides recommended retail prices (RRP) in the Fair Trading Guidelines provided in the Installer Start Pack. These prices cover all the hardware for letterbox installations. Using the RRP and your buying privilege as an Installer, you can expect to make $50 on a single letterbox plus the cost or your time and labour. A simple letterbox installation takes about 5 minutes.

6. How will I get my customers?

Please contact us to discuss arrangements.

7. What is the difference between an Installer and Wholesaler?

Both are able to purchase Tuffies letterbox products at wholesale rates and retail them to the public. Installers have the additional right to purchase single boxes and install them for customers as a registered Tuffies letterbox installer.

8. What tools do I need for installation?

Very few. To be able to respond to all installation situations.

Tuffies recommends for letterbox installations you have:

  • an electric screwdriver capable of driving 60mm posi drive hex head screws into wood
  • a set of plugs and concrete drill bit to screw the posi drive screws into concrete or brick walls
  • any tools that may be required to remove old letterboxes from existing posts, such as a hacksaw, pliers, hammer and screwdrivers
  • a small level for ensuring boxes are installed in the appropriate horizontal and vertical planes

To install Tuffies or other posts, Tuffies recommends you have:

  • a spade
  • a crowbar if the ground conditions are hard
  • for each post, a bag of post pre-mix quick drying cement, readily available from hardware stores
  • a level for ensuring the post is upright

9. Do I need to install a post if the customer requests it?

No. You have the right to install more or less of Tuffies products and will need to negotiate this with your customers.

10. How do I purchase more Tuffies products when I run out?

Please contact us to discuss arrangements.

11. How long does my Installer Contract last?

Your contract lasts for 12 months. 30 days prior to the end of your contract, you will be sent an email by Tuffies to ask if you wish your contract to be extended. Current registration fees will apply for re-registration.

12. Can I de-register myself as an Installer without penalty payments?

Certainly, just send Tuffies an email saying you wish to stop being an Installer. We will confirm this with you and delete you and your contact details from our database. There will however, be no refund for your registration and Tuffies will not credit back damaged or soiled stock.
